Today I join my Conservatives parliamentary colleagues in calling for the Government to drop it's proposals to scrap the Winter Fuel Payment. This ill thought through policy will lead to a rise in pensioner policy and harm some of the most vulnerable in society.

I’m grateful for all the support my campaign is getting. Whether it be from MP colleagues today or from all the members, councillors and activists I’ve had the pleasure of meeting on the road. Together we can change our party for the better.

This afternoon I spoke in the opposition day debate on the Winter Fuel Payment. I voted against the Labour Government's appalling decision to withdraw this essential support for some of our most frail and vulnerable residents.

Yesterday I intervened in the Opposition Day debate on the Winter Fuel Allowance. I made the point that the Government has set a dangerous precedent. 🚌 Bus passes, 💊 free prescriptions and even universal 🏥 healthcare itself are all at risk under the new Government's 'logic'

Interesting. No comment either way from HM Government on whether adding VAT to private school bills breaches human rights laws. It says just that it won’t say if Law Officers have offered advice. 👇
