Yesterday’s mini-hurricane resulted in flooding & long power outages highlighting the need for more street greening (depaving) and roundabouts (instead of stop lights) everywhere we can add. It’s also less concrete and mechanicals the City has to maintain over time.

CLE Fun Fact: The Cleveland Cavaliers colors of wine and gold are a tribute to John Adams High School in the Union Miles neighborhood, whose colors are similar. They were chosen by Cavs founder Nick Meliti who graduated from John Adams.

My girlfriend bought a house in Cudell. Instead of repaving her driveway w/ concrete, she took the more sustainable route & installed a gravel drive w/ granite block trim. Mitigates stormwater runoff, helps reduce basement flooding, and also just looks cool. #DepaveCleveland

During one of my east side Every Street CLE runs months ago, I came across a pile of still great, 100+ year old Cleveland Building Supply bricks from what remained of a poorly executed building demolition over 10 yrs ago. Turned them into landscape stone today. #ReuseCleveland

Worked long & hard with Metro West CDO on their first tree planting grant this week. We’re targeting W. 65 where the old Stockyard slaughterhouses once stood. Looking to add 50 large trees to add some much needed green infra to this historic industrial strip. Fingers crossed.

Good times last night at the first annual Trash Fish fundraiser at Crowbar. Won a gift basket from Burning River Adventures as well - some swag and a $50 gift certificate for a kayak rental on either the Cuyahoga or Mahoning rivers.
