The Spirit guides us, enlightens us, and strengthens us. He helps us walk through life, even amid adversity and difficulty, in joy and sorrow, while remaining on Jesus’ path.

The Holy Spirit comforts us and heals our memories by focusing our attention on God's love and His gaze upon us. The Spirit brings order to our lives. He teaches us to accept ourselves, forgive, reconcile with the past, and start anew.

Humility lies at the foundation of our Christian life. It is the antidote to arrogance, the worst vice. Pride and arrogance swell the human heart, but humility restores things to their proper dimension. We are marvelous yet limited creatures, with our good qualities and flaws.

Our #Hope is born from love and based on the love springing from the pierced Heart of Jesus upon the cross. The Holy Spirit keeps the light of hope burning like a perpetual lamp, to sustain and invigorate our lives.

The Mother of Jesus is the living invocation of the Holy Spirit. She is the Mother of the Church. We entrust to her all communities that at this moment are most in need of the Spirit, who is the Defender and Comforter, the Spirit of truth, freedom, and peace.

May the Holy Spirit foster communion and fraternity among Christians of different confessions. May He grant world leaders the courage to engage in dialogue that leads to an end to all wars.

On the feast of Pentecost, we pray that the Holy Spirit, the Love of the Father and the Son, may create harmony in our hearts, families, and societies, and fill the whole world with harmony.

In the account of Pentecost (cf. Acts 2:1-11), the Acts of the Apostles show us two areas of the Holy Spirit’s working in the Church: in us and in mission, with two characteristics: power and gentleness.

On the eve of Pentecost, we come to You, O Lord, for You are our peace. Without the living water of Your Spirit, our hearts remain hearts of stone, incapable of forgiveness, reconciliation, and fraternity.

At the origin of Christian life is our encounter with the Lord, which does not depend on our merits or efforts, but on the love with which He comes to seek us, knocking on the door of our hearts.

Christian #Hope does not deceive or disappoint. It is based on the certainty that nothing and no one can ever separate us from the love of God. Hope perseveres in the midst of trials, and is founded on faith and nurtured by charity. It enables us to press forward in life.

We are called to be missionaries of #Peace . This choice will give us peace. It means making space in our hearts for all, and believing that differences are not obstacles, that others are our brothers and sisters, and that the peace Jesus brought into the world is meant for all.

I turn my thoughts to the beloved people of #Afghanistan , who have been affected by the tragic floods that have claimed many lives, including those of several children. I appeal to the international community to immediately provide humanitarian aid to protect the most vulnerable.

The #Charity of Christ compels us to care for our smallest and most marginalized brothers and sisters. It is a tangible and courageous love that embraces even what seems unlovable. Christ's love forgives, forgets, blesses, and gives without measure. #GeneralAudience

Amid today’s uncertainties and utter lack of hope, we must promote a culture of the #Family and life. May our efforts help the younger generations to appreciate marriage, family life, and the beauty of creating and safeguarding life.
