'Ratnavali' ( Precious Garland) is a four act play by Emperor Harsha.

The plot is about a love affair between King Udayan of Kaushambi & Princess Ratnavali.

A charming play, it also has a reference to Holi; making this a first literary evidence about this festival.

Samudra Gupta was not only a conqueror, but also known to have given back the lands of defeated kings.

He restored many vanquished king with their properties,(vibhuva-pratyarpa) & kept his offices constantly employed (nitya-vyaparita) on his work of restitution.

Battle of Chach (1008 AD) was fought between Mahmud Ghaznavi & Anandapala- King of Hindu Shahis.

The Ghaznavids were on the verge of defeat, when a chance arrow injured the elephant of Anandpala, which fled away, leading to the destruction of Hindu Shahi forces.

Battle of Kangra (1809) was fought between Sikh empire, led by Ranjit Singh & Nepal army led by Amar Singh Thapa.

Gurkhas lost 10,000 men after months of siege & uncoordinated attacks against Sikhs, & at last surrendered.

Sikh forces captured Kangra fort.

Siege of Bombay (1690) was an event of 'Child's War' fought between Mughals under Aurangzeb vs EIC, led by Josiah Child.

Mughals were victorious.

British envoys had to prostrate before Aurangzeb, & paid a fine 1.50 lakhs & a promise of better behaviour.
