1/2 Yesterday we unveiled the portrait of our first female Fellow, Jamini Sen. In 1912, Jamini Sen became the first female surgeon to be admitted to our College, after women were allowed to sit the examinations necessary for fellowship in 1911. RCPSG Heritage

Born #OTD 1843, Rebecca Strong (pictured 2nd on right) who pioneered block apprenticeship training for nurses. The scheme, establish at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1893, was adopted worldwide and helped elevate nursing to the status of a profession. #histnursing

Beautiful piece about Barbara Watson - the first person to survive a brain tumour operation. The photograph is from a journal in our archive which belonged to William Macewen, the Glasgow surgeon who performed the operation. But this is Barbara's story ❤️
