Welcome news, but this dispute had dragged on for far too long and could have been resolved much sooner. Considering the context (cost of living crisis, climate crisis, and potential election around the corner), it has been a real distraction for staff and management.

I wrote to The Times and The Sunday Times about their editorial on diversity in the civil service. They didn’t publish my letter, so I’m publishing it myself. EDI work played a valuable role in setting up the Dept for Trade and more generally in ensuring the civil service gets the talent it needs.

I have only one thing to say (in a personal capacity).
