Rescued a dog from Dogs Trust in Liverpool. He didn't seem to understand us much & we thought it was because he wasn't used to the commands/words. Turns out he understands us better when we talk in a Scouse accent, so we've had to teach ourselves to speak Scouse for the dog.

Today seems as good as any to announce that I’m giving my Berlin Phil debut later this year, playing a recital alongside their brass and percussion players. Rep includes a new arrangement of music from an obscure sex scene by Richard Strauss. More details to come. 🥳

A great privilege to preach yesterday at the liturgical presentation of Bach’s St John Passion St George's Church, Hanover Square as part of the LondonHandelFestival on the 300th anniversary of its first performance. An utterly remarkable and moving performance under the direction of Richard Gowers

It might be more persuasive to have some big non-music names singing this. Musicians will of course fight for music. What about others from the university, or a few St John’s fellows?

What if you’re a soprano?
Also if there’s a culture of anti-elitism brewing in Cambridge, why do they insist on A*AA?

All are welcome to join us at St George's as we celebrate the great paschal mystery, the passion, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The internet is just silly.
Why does anyone need to know that the only tube station with no letters from the word ‘microspectrophotometric’ is Bank?

So many walks of singing life have this massive gender imbalance, from amateur (think choral societies esp.) to professional. What can be done to get more boys to sing?
