More than a century since the Gallipoli campaign, Australia and Türkiye share a strong bond.

I was delighted to meet Minister of National Defence, Yaşar Güler and attend the Turkish commemorative service in Çanakkale today 🇦🇺🇹🇷

On the eve of Anzac Day in Türkiye, we commemorate all of those who fought and died here on the Gallipoli peninsula in 1915.

From the Turkish commemorative service, to the French and Commonwealth services, it was an honour to pause today and remember them all.

Australia and the UAE have a broad and important relationship. We are working to deepen trade and investment between our two countries.

It was an honour to meet the President, His Highness Sheikh محمد بن زايد in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇺🇦🇪

In the lead up to Anzac Day, it is an honour to visit ADF personnel deployed to Headquarters Middle East and join them for a morning run.

Whether they are serving overseas or at home, we thank all of those who wear our nation’s uniform. Their service keeps our country safe.

Earlier today ⏮️ addressing the National Press Club on the release of the National Defence Strategy and Intergraded Investment program. This funding gives Australia the genuine chance to have agency over our future security.

And building a defence force capable of this is now the Albanese Government’s historic mission.”

“Together with the rebuilt Integrated Investment Program, the National Defence Strategy is a blueprint to deliver an ambitious transformation of the Australian Defence Force to an integrated, focused force capable of safeguarding Australia’s security for decades to come.”

“Developed in response to last year’s Defence Strategic Review, the 2024 National Defence Strategy outlines the Government’s strategic framework to guide the significant and urgent changes required to address Australia’s challenging strategic circumstances.”
