Brilliant piece from Sarah Lamble (S Lamble) on the need for careful analysis of the "Gender Critical" movement: "developing effective counter strategies requires attention to the differences within and across that movement" The Journal of Lesbian Studies tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
So shocked and sad by this news. I shared an office with Russell Hitchings when we were postdocs at UCL Geography many moons ago. I well remember how funny, kind and charismatic he was. Deepest sympathies to his family and many friends.
My colleagues, led by Isabel Crowhurst, put together the most amazing roster of keynotes for our 60th Anniversary Conference - celebrating six decades as one of the country's largest Sociology Depts. We love our brilliant PhD alums - the first 15 attending get free travel 🥰
Terfdemort has decided to make an example of the brilliant Sally Hines. We all know what happens when Rowling does this: her targets end up getting a torrent of abuse from her deranged followers. Please give Sally a follow because, unlike Rowling, she’s kind and she’s cool. 😎
This is particularly pertinent today as I receive news from my friends and colleagues about the brutal and unnecessary cuts which will mean the end of Sociology, Goldsmiths as we know it - How the Tories pushed universities to the brink of disaster theguardian.com/politics/ng-in…
Devastating news of sociologist redundancies at Goldsmiths, University of London Heart-breaking for those involved. Our solidarity and sympathy is with all affected.
Kudos to Durham Sociology and UCL Sociology Network for leading on institutional messages of support to our colleagues at Goldsmiths. This is a matter of utmost gravity + the value of institutional solidarity can't be underestimated. Sociology @ Essex Criminology @ Essex @MigEssex Economic Sociology @ Essex
At the brilliant Feminist and Queer Spatialities conference University College Dublin today! Great opening keynote by Mary Gilmartin on challenging gendered exclusions in Ireland. Vivid memories from my childhood of the events she references.
I successfully defended my thesis on Recipient Experiences of Online Sperm donation… and passed with no corrections! Thank you to my examiners Prof Abigail Locke Prof Róisín Ryan-Flood and Dr Kate Milnes for their brilliant questions and for being so supportive and complimentary.
