His Majesty’s Pipe Major played for the first time in the Clarence House garden this morning, as The King woke up in residence.

The position was created by Queen Victoria in 1843, and Queen Elizabeth enjoyed the special tradition following her Accession to the Throne in 1952.

The King received The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP at Buckingham Palace today.

His Majesty asked him to form a new Administration. Mr. Sunak accepted His Majesty's offer and was appointed Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

This morning Elizabeth Truss tendered her resignation as Prime Minister to The King and shortly thereafter HM received Rishi Sunak and invited the newly elected leader of the Conservative Party to become Prime Minister and form a new government. 📷Aaron Chown
