This morning, Amb. Nkosi met with students from #Nagasaki during which he outlined 🇿🇦 stance on nuclear disarmament, starting with the dismantling of its nuclear weapons to hosting negotiations leading to the adoption of the #PelindabaTreaty for a nuclear-weapons free Africa.

This afternoon, Amb. Nkosi met Ms. Michiko Kodama, one of the few living survivors of the nuclear bomb detonated in #Hiroshima in 1944. She was 7 years old at the time. Ms. Kodama is a campaigner against #NuclearWeapons and expressed her appreciation for South Africa’s stance. 🇿🇦

Following fruitful bilateral consultations with the Chairperson of the Second Preparatory Session for the 2026 #NPT Review Conference, Ambassador Akan Rakhmetullin, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of #Kazakhstan, Ambassador Nkosi gifted him a bottle of 🇿🇦red wine.

Earlier today, Ambassador Mxolisi Nkosi received a courtesy call from his Venezuelan counterpart, Ambassador Alexander Yánez Delueze, which accorded both Ambassadors the opportunity to exchange notes on a wide-range of multilateral issues in the Geneva diplomatic ecosystem. 🇿🇦🇻🇪

Today,on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, the core of international humanitarian law, for the protection of civilians & prisoners of war, Amb. Mxolisi Nkosi joined the call by Mirjana Spoljaric (Archive) for the prioritization of civilian life in armed conflict.

At the 10th Conference of the Arms Trade Treaty currently underway in Geneva, Acting Deputy Permanent Rep, Ms. Cathy Moruke delivered 🇿🇦 national statement urging Member States to fulfill their disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control obligations in line with the Treaty.
