Our fabric wind tunnel has 3 interchangeable cylinders, with proportions designed to resemble arms, legs and torsos. This allows you to optimise materials, orientations and seam locations at different points on the riders body whilst in a controlled and repeatable environment.

Unlike a conventional rolling resistance test, where the wheel and tyre are tested in isolation on a metal drum, the Pedalling Efficiency Rig will allow rolling resistance to be measured with a rider on a bike.

The Sports Performance Wind Tunnel at SSEH has been purpose built for low speed applications such as cycling. Using an Open-jet, Open-return configuration, the SPWT can quickly accommodate changes in wind speed between runs, making it more efficient than a closed loop system.
