There was a real opportunity today for Glasgow City Council Planning to seize & challenge the recent negative public & press narrative that suggests that listed buildings 'going on fire' in Glasgow leads only & inexorably to demolition, with developers wanting only a cleared site. And yet:

A poor decision, based on misleading claims by the developer, who has shown no interest in retaining Charles McNair’s grand arch, as Historic Environment Scotland advised. Salvaging bits of it isn't enough! Scotland’s top conservation-accredited structural engineer says it can be fully retained.
