Barney was born on this day in 1985! 🥳 That means he was born the same year that Seattle’s tallest skyscraper, Columbia Center, opened; 2 years before Nirvana was formed; and 15 years before the Kingdome was demolished. Through it all, he's remained our favorite PNW icon. 💙

Birthday party for Barney! 🥳 At 39, Barney has lived well beyond the median life expectancy for harbor seals. In fact, according to our Curator of Birds & Mammals Veronica, “Barney remains one of the oldest harbor seals in human care—possibly the world—that we know of." 🦭
