A (relatively) new tactic by climate change deniers is to attribute extreme events to nefarious human intervention. Whether it's arson and wildfires or cloud seeding and flooding, it's a ploy to distract from the obvious connection between a warming world and more extreme events.

Want to learn about why we should care about warm conveyor belts WCBs for ? It took us quite a while but finally the nice PhD results by Jan from the former team are published doi.org/10.1029/2023JD… Dominik Büeler Peter Knippertz

For anyone thinking about writing a paper on the meteorological impacts of the eclipse, please consider Weather — there’s no publication fee (unless you opt for open access). Yes, it really is free! Articles can be up to 4000 words with no figure limit rmets.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/147786…

Maybe, but the fact that we don’t know precisely what the weather will be next week doesn’t mean we can’t say anything about the future climate. Not all science is deterministic to the same degree or equally simple.

The moment totality hits is a feeling like no other. I didn’t take a lot of photos — I just gazed at this awe-inspiring cosmic event from a snow-covered field in northern Vermont. Just stunning… I’m lost for words.

Solar eclipses have substantial meteorological impacts. Learn more by checking out this collection of eclipse-related Royal Meteorological Society Weather papers: rmets.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/toc/10.100… (and if you're considering writing a paper about Monday's eclipse, why not consider submitting to Weather?)

Have you heard about the so-called signal-to-noise paradox (SNP) in climate forecast but are not sure what exactly the problem is? 🤔
The experts aren’t quite sure either.
We held a workshop to discuss the issue and wrote up a meeting report in BAMS ↘️ doi.org/10.1175/BAMS-D…
