Again, generative AI is not an accommodation. It is theft. Disabled writers are not asking to use AI. This talking point is not coming from us. Statements like this actually reinforce ableist beliefs. Good writers don't need to cheat. If you do, you aren't a good writer.

This statement suggest that disabled people and/or lower class people need generative AI in order to write at the same level as rich able bodied people. But this is exactly the BS I would expect from NaNoWriMo at this point.

It's truly just a slap in the face to all the disabled people and working class people who are extremely skilled writers. Esp when we are already up against industries that see us as less capable. Who put up actual barriers to entry and refuse to provide actual accommodations.

No one is entitled to be a writer. Loads of able bodied people fail at it every day too. If you can't do it without stealing from others, you don't need to be a writer. Try seeking out an activity or career that you will be uniquely good at.

Happy Labour Day to all working people, including working artists who make their own art, thoughtfully writing their own words and composing their own works. Orgs like NaNoWriMo that condone the replacement of human labour with AI do not stand in solidarity with working artists.
