If Kevin Erdmann is right, we're seeing the first data that shows major price effects from YIMBY wins in California. The clearest data point is that housing prices declined the most in California & Austin. In Austin, it looks like a correction: lower prices at all income levels.

My takeaway from the story about landlords using a shared secret database of rental prices and algorithm software to adjust asking/renewal rents is that we should have a PUBLIC rental registry to increase the market power of tenants. A knowledge disparity is the big problem IMO
