Short-necked oil beetles are classified as Nationally Rare in Britain & Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. It's therefore so important that we gather all the data we can on these wee beasties so we know how to help them.

These rare beetles were discovered for the first time on Tiree just last year - where else might they be??

If you live in the Hebrides, why not go for a look - they're most likely to be found in sand dunes & machair grassland.
