The political significance is clear. Opera is inherently international, emotional, elite (in a good way) and rooted in a shared European cultural history, challenging and channeling our basest human instincts, provoking introspection and compassion. No wonder they want rid of it.

Sadly Josephine Goddard is unwell today for our performance at St George's Theatre, but we are very lucky to have Hilary Cronin stepping in to sing as Mrs Waters after having performed the role with us in 2018. Welcome Hilary and thank you for joining us at short notice!

Very pleased to be able to offer free tickets to young people in Norfolk via Norfolk Music Hub! The Boatswain's Mate boasts a really interesting range of musical styles; it's fantastically funny, performed in English, and only 80 minutes long - a great first opera 💃
