Kids don’t always follow instructions… and neither do teachers.  We all need to be gracious with one another.

Some kids have a hard time sitting still for 45 minutes.  Frankly, I don’t blame them.  I’m sort of mature and I don’t like sitting still either.

When you find out about the home life of some of your students, it will change your attitude and approach toward those students.  It must.

Struggling kids don’t make it because they are in the right class.  They make it because they have the right teacher.

The kids who make poor choices in your class… the ones who drive you crazy… they need you more than anyone.

At some point in the near future, you will get a break that you don't really deserve. Someone will cut you some slack when they could have laid down the hammer. When that happens... it will remind you to extend grace to others. We all appreciate grace.

You don’t have to be an expert in pedagogy to be an exceptional instructional leader. But you have to be an expert in connecting with teachers… and you have to be curious about instruction… and have good conversations with teachers that promote self-reflection.
