To recycle an old status just the two White Stork on the Standing Tarn WeBS count. Here they are sheepishly heading back to the zoo.

An interesting feral Barnacle sighting today, showing not all local birds in summer are from Blackpool Zoo. Thanks to Kane Brides for pointing me in the right direction.

Foula Day 3 - will probably tail off now but still four Marsh Warbler and a couple of Icterine Warbler. The Rosefinch is singing so a young male. This Cuckoo was getting grief from the Mipits (sorry it's a BOC shot) - a Shetland tick for me.

Foula Day 4 - third Shetland tick with thanks to Donna Athertons for garden access to see this Nightjar. Found a Goosander, deep red bill apparently rules out Common Merganser!

Best views I've ever had of a local Great White Egret today, but these days the 110 Swift that appeared as the rain came through was more notable.

Bottlenose Dolphin off Blackpool North Pier today. Totally fails to convey the acrobatics, a calf with mum in a pod of 7 etc etc but the best I could do.

The article on Tree Pipit / OBP calls in this month's Birdwatch has led me to write this up. Hope it's of interest to some of you. From The Archives natural-selection.uk/2024/08/03/fro…
