Amazing! Hazel took this Spoladea recurvalis, at light in Tintern, Gwent (VC35) last night (28/10). Also, a Scarce Bordered Straw (H. armigera).

My best migrant night for a few years in Highworth: 6 Nomophila noctuella, Udea ferrugalis, Palpita vitrealis, Vestal, 4 Turnip, Pearly Underwing, 4 White-point
5 Angle Shades, Scarce Bordered Straw, Silver Y.
Also, a late Least Carpet & Oak Hook-tip.

Meanwhile, over in Tintern, Hazel recorded the 4th Streak for the garden, 3rd White-point and 4th Turnip Moth. Plus the first Mottled Umber of the Autumn.

Last 3 nights in Highworth produced 32, 27 & 21 species
respectively. Highlights - my 1st chocolate box (C. perspectalis), with around 100 of the typical form recorded. 2 Sprawler on 24/10, 2nd Delicate of the year on 22/10, plus smattering of common immigrants.

A 3rd Scarce Bordered Straw of the week in Hazel's Tintern (VC35) garden. Also, December Moth, a smart Flounced Chestnut, the dark form of Plutella xylostella (Diamond-back) & the first Turnip Moth since 2019!

A good night for migrants in Hazel's garden in Tintern (VC35), with Vestal (sacraria), 2 White-point (albipuncta) - new to the site & Scarce Bordered Straw (armigera) recorded. Also a tatty Clifden Nonpareil (fraxini) & what must be an odd Flounced Chestnut (A. helvola).

Pretty chilly here in Highworth, N. Wilts overnight and numbers down to 47 moths of 18 species. However I did record Vestal (R. sacraria), White-point (M. albipuncta) and Clifden Nonpareil (C. fraxini). Also, Turnip Moth (A. segetum) & Pale Mottled Willow (C. clavipalpis).

Scarce Bordered Straw (H. armigera), to light at Tintern, Gwent (VC35) last night was a first for Hazel's garden. Also, C. perspectalis (Box-tree Moth), Autumnal Rustic, 2 Merveille du Jour, Acleris notana/ferrugana & Acleris emargana (probably).

84 moths of 23 species in Highworth, N. Wilts. Possible immigrants were Vestal, 5 Turnip Moth, 10 Angle Shades & Silver Y. Also, 9 Large Yellow Underwing, 2 Lesser Yellow Underwing, 17 Shuttle-shaped Dart, Setaceous Hebrew Char, 2 Common Wainscot, Rosy Rustic, 2 Merveille du Jour

Only 14 moths of 6 species to light in Hazel's Tintern garden (VC35) last night, but a very out of season Little Thorn (Cepphis advenaria) meant it was worth the effort.

The latest UK record in the Atlas of Larger Moths is mid July, however she did record one on 20/8/18.
