A great response to yet *another* attempt to use genomic data to justify racist, antisemitic, and ethnist ideas. As geneticists we need to be incredibly careful about how we conduct and publish our work to avoid providing more ammunition to bigots and racists.

Watching episode 1 of #Diagnosis on #Netflix (based on Lisa Sanders MD’s NYT Magazine column) and it offends me, an adult #geneticist screaming “ #metabolic #myopathy ” at the TV, that they flew this poor woman to ITALY? for testing after Nina B. Gold, MD told them the diagnosis within 5 minutes??

Very interesting work. BUT while the yield of #genome sequencing certainly decreases with age in this study, a 21% diagnostic rate in adults is huge and super important! This shouldn’t be discussed as a negative or as a reason not to test adults. #adultgenetics #genetics
