Robin Monotti Unfortunately, this is all false. Climate denial is a convenient way to deny our human responsibility and reject the need for action. x.com/khayhoe/status…

24 hours on from the TV debate between Harris and Trump, there's been a lot of attention on how the debate was moderated and fact-checked. Our latest video assesses claims that the approach was unfair.

Beyond the statistical reasons discussed here, record-shattering extremes are caused by climate change not only warming the planet but also changing the dynamics of weather, e.g. the persistence of events & behavior of the jet stream. We discuss that here: iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…

Please remember to use caution after storms as historically almost half of all lives lost during a hurricane occur AFTER it passes. Use caution and remain vigilant during the clean-up phase of #Francine. If you use a generator or power tools make sure it is done safely.

Andrew Dessler has a nice anecdote to the climate doom spiral over at The Climate Brink. As he notes, we can know that effectively stop warming by getting to zero emissions, and the world is rapidly undertaking a clean energy transition: theclimatebrink.com/p/the-doom-spi….

Tributary dams across eastern Czech Republic have started releasing large volumes of water to bring reservoir levels down to create storage for what could become one of the worst flooding events in Central Europe’s modern history.

In history we can group scholars into certain subfields. For example, there are proponents of the "new social history" of the 1970s, the Annales School, etc. Let's see if ChatGPT can find commonalities. Yes, it can. Will trolls come after me? BONUS 💛💙🇺🇦🇺🇸Ben @ The History Voyager Podcast

Extremely heavy rainfall expected in central Europe over the next few days, up to 400mm in places. Map shows tomorrow morning but from lunch today it keeps getting worse and spreads outwards. #FloodWarning.

A word of caution. I posted an image of S. America NDVI data from NASA worldview yesterday. The smoke from the wildfires might be affecting how easy it is for the satellite to record NVDI without artifacts. Will check and come back with an answer later.
