#HillfortsWednesday Pendinas Lochtyn hillfort on Pen-y-Badell near Llangrannog has a spectacular viewpoint south to Mwnt and Cardigan Island and North to Aberystwyth and Llyn Peninsula Thanks to Dr Toby Driver 's excellent book which gives directions
A #hillfortswednesday in miniature today with the tiny Mowingword promontory enclosure, 54m long by 6m wide, projecting from the limestone cliffs at Stackpole Head #Pembrokeshire . It is defined on its landward side by a rock-cut ditch with a paved central causeway 1/3⤵️
#HillfortsWednesday The best view in Welsh archaeology? Great to have visited DigVentures Archaeology at #Caerfai coastal promontory fort, #Pembrokeshire in mid Sept to see work continuing on this eroding Iron Age site; & more lovely IA industry emerging too...🤩 #ClimateHeritage
#TombTuesday Winter prospect across the royal burial ground of C7th AD Saxon kings at Sutton Hoo, East Anglia, seen from the viewing tower in Jan 2022. If you look hard you'll see costumed reenactors for scale. An amazing archaeological landscape
57 Marine Drive, Rhos-on-sea, appears to have been built for Mrs Royle of Cheshire by local builder William Evans in c.1937. Known as Elyor House, the property was built in a striking Moderne style popular in the seaside resorts of north Wales. #ModernistMonday

Earlier this year I spotted this pot eroding out of the river bank. After taking it out I noticed a glint of red which revealed itself to be a Roman Samian Ware plate. It was quite a surreal experience & there was something that made it even more special (thread 👇) #mudlarking
#MondayMotivation The welcoming doorways of the conjoined Bryn yr Eryr Iron Age roundhouses at Sain Ffagan | St Fagans, reconstructed with clom walls and roofed with spelt straw.
Enjoyed reading about #DinasDinlle in Current Archaeology this morning, after hearing so much about this CHERISH Project site from Lou Barker Dr Toby Driver and Julian Whitewright 💙 ! Need to fit a visit in next year

#FindsFriday Visualising the scale of Iron Age swords and spearheads from Llyn Cerrig Bach, Môn/Anglesey - a diagram for a forthcoming project. Both the great iron sword & longest iron spearhead measured over 70cms long 😬. Quite terrifying prestige weapons *click*
#ThrowbackThursday to the 1800s when these unusual square lime kilns between Llanrhystud and Llanon were still in use. Lime was brought here from both North and South Wales for use on the fields and in mortar.
