I was saddened to learn about the passing of a friend and former Port Alberni city Councillor Helen Poon. Helen and I were elected to the UBCM executive at the same and we served together for 1 year. She was was involved in a serious car crash while travelling in New Zealand.

Trish Mandewo FCM Global Affairs Canada Workshops included developing self empowerment and advocacy in politics, a communication exercise between participants, and exploring values of leadership.

What an amazing exchange and engagement. I was truly touched by the desire to learn and the resiliency that the Cambodian women and men have. I am truly grateful for the opportunity.
