UNHCR Tanzania and FAO in Tanzania were warmly welcomed by Ambassador to discuss how to capacitate refugees' and host communities' in fish farming, make a difference in people's lives, improve nutrition and help returnees rebuild their livelihoods after repatriation.

No one chooses to be a refugee. Returning home is the preferred choice for most refugees to end their challenging life in displacement.

Today, 228 refugees living in Tanzania voluntary returned to Burundi safely, supported by the Governments of 🇹🇿 and 🇧🇮, UNHCR,  and partners.

Yesterday with urban refugee women, I watched the film of 'Samira's Dream/Ndoto ya Samira', inspiring story of a 🇹🇿 woman & her journey to become a role model for her society against the odds. Reminder that we must invest in women as they are strong pillars in our communities.

Refugees in Tanzania are fully dependent on humanitarian aid for survival. Each month, families receive 60% food rations due to underfunding, well below min. daily requirements. Rations lasted an avg. 18-19 days for households. Learn more in our survey ➡️ data.unhcr.org/en/documents/d…

Every week, UNHCR with 🇹🇿 Government & partners, meet with the Burundian refugee community in Nduta & Nyarugusu camps to share messages on promotion of voluntary repatriation to Burundi.

For millions of refugees globally, going home remains the highest hope for ending their exile.

Today, 189 refugees living in Tanzania voluntary returned to Burundi finding hope back home in safety and dignity, supported by UNHCR, the governments of 🇹🇿 and 🇧🇮, and partners.

Warmest thanks to the Irish people and Irish Embassy Dar Irish Aid 🙏for your solidarity and support to refugees and asylum seekers in Tanzania, which has helped #UNHCR deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance & sustainable solutions.

As part of support to 🇹🇿host communities who have shown great humanity to refugees, UNHCR today handed over latrines to Kasangezi Secondary School witnessed by Kasulu District Commissioner Col. Mwakisu.

The latrines will also be used by repatriation convoys en route to Burundi.

Soap is part of our daily life, keeping us healthy.

This week, UNHCR & partners distributed soap to refugees in Nyarugusu Camp🇹🇿, 250 gm/person/month.

Voluntary repatriation is the durable solution of choice for many refugees when the country of origin is safe for dignified returns.

Today, 654 refugees voluntary returned to Burundi assisted by UNHCR, 🇹🇿🇧🇮 Govts., & partners, beginning their journey of reconstruction & peace.
