Today marks the 1st day of the UN Humanitarian Donor Support Group High Level Meeting in 🇱🇺. We look forward to leading discussions on #OCHA’s role in coordinating & advocating for a more effective, efficient & sustainable humanitarian system one last time as Chair of the ODSG. #LuxAid
I had the honour of briefing on the outcomes of the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza High-Level Conference co-hosted by #Jordan, #Egypt & United Nations. A permanent ceasefire is crucial. Humanitarian aid must enter #Gaza unobstructed to effectively address urgent needs. #ActionforGaza
Congratulations Anacláudia Rossbach on your appointment as the new UN-Habitat Executive Director. Warm welcome to the @IASCCH family. We look forward to collaborating with you on fostering community resilience to address humanitarian needs.
We take pride in CERF - The UN's emergency fund's unmatched agility, making us one of the fastest responders to crises. Its focus on early action, community resilience and accountability is crucial as resources dwindle and challenges mount. We rely on our donors' support as we #InvestInHumanity.
I have spent much of my career in or on the edges of war zones, but nothing quite prepared me for the breadth and depth of human suffering I have witnessed in my three years as the United Nations’ humanitarian chief. My guest essay in The New York Times: nytimes.com/2024/06/17/opi…
Acute malnutrition is increasing rapidly in northeast #Nigeria and food insecurity has reached the highest level in 7 years. To provide immediate support to the most vulnerable, I’ve allocated $11 million from CERF - The UN's emergency fund. This is a start - more support is needed.
Thank you, Martin, for joining us virtually at World Food Programme to discuss the many humanitarian challenges that lay ahead, and how United Nations agencies like ours will continue to make a difference. It has been a privilege to serve with you. Thank you for your wisdom, compassion & friendship.
She can, and she did. Thank you Marina Marina Abramović for the reminder that, across the world and with no cultural barriers, we all care enough to stop. And to think. As people in Sudan, Gaza, Haiti and elsewhere continue to face daily horrors, that’s the least we can do.
