My trip to Souk Ahras was full of rich Algerian heritage at Khemissa, the St. Augustine’s olive tree 🌳 , and the music of the Ichbilia Malouf Musical Association 🎶🎻.
The kind hospitality of the people of Souk Ahras was the best part.  🇩🇿🇺🇸

I welcomed a special visitor at Villa Montfeld, the only 🇩🇿 football player on a 🇺🇸⚽️ team: Monsef Bakrar!
I learned how he crosses the Atlantic to play on @NYCFC and @lesverts.
We agreed: a direct ✈️ from 🇩🇿 to 🇺🇸 would enhance his game, be a boost for athletes, and score a goal…

Engaging conversation with Mila Wali Mustapha Guerriche on how 🇺🇸🇩🇿 partnership can support agriculture and dairy farming.
Also discussed with the Mila Chambers of Commerce and Agriculture how 🇺🇸 bovine genetics could support the growth of the local dairy industry.

Discovered beautiful Souk Ahras where I met Wali Zinai Abdelkrim and learned about the region’s agricultural, academic, and historical importance.
🇺🇸 hopes to partner with this key 🇩🇿wilaya for tourism, cattle farming, and English language exchange.

Welcomed 🇺🇸 Ambassador Marcia Bernicat Marcia S. Bernicat, the U.S. State Department’s chief HR director, to 🇩🇿 for her first visit.

What a joy to host 🇺🇸 Ambassador Ana Escrogima to 🇴🇲 U.S. Embassy Muscat at Villa Montfeld. Ana served at US Embassy Algiers from 2015-2017.

Welcomed my counterpart Amb Therese Løken GHEZIEL to the American Cultural Center in Algiers. ACCA members learned about life in Norway and 🇳🇴-🇺🇸 immigration ties. Our Norwegian guests asked about 🇩🇿 culture. For example, is it acceptable to dip your bourek into the chorba?

Assist Sec Barbara Leaf met yesterday with Algeria’s Ambassador Sabri Boukadoum Algerian Embassy in the USA. We are coordinating closely on bilateral objectives, regional and global issues, including at the United Nations Security Council. We appreciate Algeria’s recent humanitarian donation to Gaza. 🇺🇸🇩🇿

🇩🇿Transport Minister Zahana and I made progress on an effort close to my heart. The 🇺🇸 and 🇩🇿 are negotiating an Open Skies Agreement leading to the launch of a direct ✈️ from Algiers to New York.

In February my travels took me to Mascara's lush plains, Tiaret's agricultural riches and Saida's stunning landscapes. Each stop revealed more about Algeria’s captivating history.

Learned so much and explored areas of potential partnership in research and STEM during this delicious iftar with Algerian science and research leaders.

Shared the iftar table with members of AmChamAlgeria. Since last Ramadan, 🇺🇸& 🇩🇿companies are partnering together more and more in sectors ranging from tourism to agriculture to energy. I wish abundance & success to entrepreneurs from both our countries. #RamadanKareem

🇩🇿 Women athletes and sports professionals joined me for Iftar and it was amazing to meet such talented, world class representatives of Algeria.

.Secretary Antony Blinken spoke with Algerian Foreign Minister Attaf about ongoing efforts, including at the United Nations Security Council, toward a ceasefire in Gaza that secures the release of all hostages. They agreed to continue close cooperation on those diplomatic efforts.
