Mizdarkhan is one of Karakalpakstan's most sacred & historically significant sites. This is the Mausoleum of Mazlumkhon-Sulu, which is partially buried: only the dome is visible above ground.

There are two super-long tombs in Uzbekistan. The famous one is in Samarkand & supposedly belongs to the Prophet Daniel, but there's also one at Mizdarkhan. This is the 13-14th century mausoleum of Shamun Nabiy, a holy man from Syria.

Dr Javohir is one of the chief physicists at the Parkent Solar Furnace. He demonstrated very simply how the installation works, setting fire almost instantly to a stick & boiling water for tea! This is one of my favourite day trips from Tashkent. #GELT #treasuresofuzbekistan

Parkent is so close to Tashkent, but with the mountain scenery & clean, cool air, it feels like a completely different world.
