Dr. Johnson Byabashaija highlighted the role of human resource development initiatives in UPS, stressing the importance of courses such as both Intermediate and Senior Command and Staff Course, Junior Command Course & NCO Course in cultivating effective leadership skills among officers.

This initiative aims to uplift staff welfare and accommodation standards, ensuring comfortable living for every staff of Uganda Prisons Service

Since 2016, Uganda Prisons Service was assigned a mandate by H.E Yoweri K Museveni to produce seed maize.

In 2022/2023, 1,430.7MT of certified maize seed and 67.5MT of foundation seed were produced, empowering farmers with quality seeds at affordable prices while bolstering food security.

Earlier today, the CGP Dr. Johnson Byabashaija commissioned 62 Low-Cost Housing units at UG. Prison Rwimi.

Under the same initiative, Uganda Prisons Service constructed over 554 staff units in the 2022/23 FY with ongoing constructions in various stations nationwide

This state-of-the-art Machinery boasts impressive production capacities:

-Seed Grader/Gravity Table: 2.5 tonnes per hour
-Seed Cleaner: 3 tonnes per hour
-Seed Treater: 3.5 tonnes per hour
-Gentle Maize Sheller: 2 tonnes per hour
-Seed Dryer: 1.5 tonnes per hour

With an overall production average of 2.5 tonnes per hour, this plant is set to revolutionize maize seed treatment & processing.
