2003 recommend 20-40% of #ocean protected by 2012. 2010 less than 3% protected! 2015 change goals to 10% by 2020. NOW 7.78% protected. Dr Julie Hawkins "we are unlikely to meet these targets" despite them being lower and not as highly protected as originally recommended.

Professor Prof. Steve Simpson studies fish #ecology and #behaviour to ensure the sustainability of #fisheries. His group crunches huge databases, conducts experiments, and collaborates with fishers & conservation agencies to translate knowledge into best practice. #WorldFisheriesDay
