Some folk can be sniffy about Dornfelder but when you find a little family winery by the Mosel which takes pride in its work then it can be a lovely summer evening wine to go with flammkuchen and salad

Discussing with the hotel owner, who knows a thing or two about Riesling and favours the Nahe and Rheinhessen.
These two offerings were discussed and have to say the kabinett was just sublime

Dinner this evening was a schnitzel and with it, a wonderful Spätburgunder from the Pfalz.
I often ask why folk think Burgundy produces the best pinot noir?
The hotel serves it in 'oh Riedelily' special glasses but it would still taste the same out of a jam jar!
