100s of spoon mould fragments made from local clay like these have been found in Castleford.

Exciting news out of Pompeii!
Digs also revealed lots of oil lamps, similar to this one that was found in Castleford.
This oil lamp of ours dates to 100 - 200 AD, and includes a motif of Jupiter and an eagle with outstretched wings

100 Years of Wakefield Historical Society. In the 1960/70s the Society was much involved with Sandal Castle. Young and not so young members participated in the dig. Wakefield Civic Soc. Wakefield Museums & Castles Experience Wakefield Wakefield Express Wakefield Libraries Society of Antiquaries of London West Yorkshire Archive Service
This rare medieval sculpture was probably commissioned by the de Warennes - owners of Sandal Castle and Lords of the Manor of Wakefield.
The V&A are competing to keep it in the UK!
