The recent landmark judgement over the climate impact of oil production is at the centre of the legal challenge, which began today against the UK’s first coal mine for 30 years. drillordrop.com/2024/07/16/leg… via Ruth Hayhurst

Interesting article on how the impacts of our win in the Supreme Courts may be felt across Europe and beyond. Nice to hear of the corks popping in Norway 🍾

The WildFish lawyer's letter is here for those who don't have a subscription to @TheENDSreport It reminds Powys County Council they must assess the impact of manure spreading on the river before granting planning permission for new chicken sheds. wildfish.org/latest-news/wi…

So we've been celebrating that a court recently made a good decision. But sometimes judges make some very bad ones. This is insane. Solidarity to those peaceful activists. Really hope there is some route to appeal. Protest is not a crime.

As long as our governments enable new oil & gas projects, they cannot claim to be acting in the public interest. Thankfully, our new govt is starting to grasp the urgency of a just transition away from fossil fuels. My thoughts in the Guardian: theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

They’re not secretive, they’re not solely green, and they’re not the reason the UK has comparatively high energy bills - that’s our reliance on fossil gas and our chronically inefficient buildings.

"The [onshore oil & gas] industry has hundreds and hundreds of wells to abandon safely, so that they don’t pollute future water courses." Interesting interview with Angus Energy CEO drillordrop.com/2024/08/20/ceo…

Well done to the StopRosebank campaign as we get a step closer to stopping this needless and reckless project for good. Another example of the significance of the Supreme Court win by Sarah Finch on climate impacts supported by Friends of the Earth ✊️👏

We always hoped our fight in Surrey would have wider impacts. So good to see that happen with today's announcement: the Govt won't defend the development consents for Rosebank & Jackdaw. Here's a #StopRosebank banner on the Horse Hill gates. gov.uk/government/new…

Not Horse Hill; Not Anywhere! Celebrating my Supreme Court win with Charlotte and Raeeka of Parents For Future UK at the #RestoreNatureNow rally in June. We hoped it would help #StopRosebank and it has... Govt recognises the consent was unlawful, hope the Scottish Court sees that too

Congratulations to Stop Rosebank and also to the new government and the government law department for being clear-headed about this. These oil and gas fields, like the Cumbria coal mine, are not in the UK or world's best interest..

“Rosebank and Jackdaw would generate a vast amount of emissions while doing nothing to lower energy bills. “But the permits were granted without taking into account the emissions caused from actually burning the fossil fuels. Something now deemed illegal by the Supreme Court.”
