There were once vast #kelp beds off the Sussex shore. Teaming with life, they held carbon & protected the coast from storms. But by the mid 80s, 96% of Sussex kelp had disappeared. Sussex Kelp Recovery Project are bringing it back. sussexkelp.org.uk #internationaldayofforests
Great to be here at Groundswell to host a conversation about the corridor. Such a fantastic mixed crowd. Head on over to the Speakers Corner tent at 4.30pm to join us. ✨
Have you taken part in the #bigbutterflycount yet? Let’s put the corridor on the map! From now til 6 Aug, join a UK-wide survey to take nature’s pulse by counting the amount & type of butterflies & day-flying moths you see. Go to …erflycount.butterfly-conservation.org to help Butterfly Conservation 🦋
#JobAlert #Ecology we are hiring a new Project Officer to support our Scrubland Superheroes initiative, creating new habitat for the reintroduction of the red-backed shrike, and boosting numbers of nightingale, cuckoo and turtle dove. Great PT flexible role based at Knepp Wilding
Scrub is such a vital habitat for wildlife. This funding from Natural England will help create 5-6 new areas of scrubland along the corridor as part of efforts to bring back the red-backed shrike and boost populations of nightingale and turtle dove.
Still time to apply! Join our team to restore areas of scrubland along the Weald to Waves corridor. This @naturalengland funded role will support the reintroduction of the red-backed shrike, & create new habitat for nightingales, turtle doves, & cuckoos in Sussex. Apply by 25 Sept
🎉We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Garfield Weston Foundation. Their wonderful support will allow us to bring many more land managers & gardens into the corridor to reconnect 100 miles of habitat. We have an exciting year ahead. If you are in Sussex, join us to join the dots
Find us in The Times and The Sunday Times today sharing ambitious plans to reintroduce the black-veined white butterfly to the corridor. Wonderful overview from Matthew Oates who has dedicated his life to #butterfly recovery.
🧡 One day left to apply for our Project Lead role. You’ll be at the helm of a community-driven initiative demonstrating a systemic approach to nature recovery. Apply via Environmentjob.co.uk environmentjob.co.uk/jobs/98256-wea…
Fantastic to have such a substantial overview of our work in Farmers Weekly. As the project gains momentum, we are connecting with farming communities right across the UK, and indeed globally, who are coming together to work together on landscape recovery.
Delighted to have James Rebanks speaking at @wealdtowaves this evening. In conversation with founding farmer, James Baird, he is bringing his wealth of knowledge on regenerative farming methods and restoring soils across his farm in the Lake District.
