Blennies are our most common rockpool fish. These are bold fish, that chase away intruders and some can even change their colour! Our three most common varieties are the shanny, Montagus and tompot and can often found on rockpool and snorkel safaris. buff.ly/3wOeAhF

Rockpools are amazing places, each one a whole world filled with a diversity of life. Why not come along with us and learn what can be found just inches below the surface. buff.ly/3wOeAhF

Slugs tend to get a bad reputation, but have you ever heard of sea slugs? Also called nudibranchs, these invertebrates are often brilliantly coloured like this orange clubbed sea slug seen recently. They are found on kelp and rocks grazing on tiny animals. buff.ly/46BB8FR

Snakelocks anemones are beautiful to look at but they also have an amazing super power! Thanks to a symbiotic algae living inside them, they can gain energy from photosynthesis and their long tentacles even track the movement of the sun across the sky. buff.ly/4dCWXqD

Our first night time rockpool safari of the year is just a week away! We still have a few spaces left for those who want to see what comes out in the rockpools after dark! buff.ly/4dgvkEg

Have you ever seen a lightbulb seasquirt? These tiny and beautiful filter feeders are a common sight on our rockpool safaris hanging out on overhangs and below rocks where they pump water through their bodies filtering out tiny bits of organic matter. buff.ly/3wOeAhF

National Marine week may have passed but what a week it was! With over 450 attendees across 11 events! We had great sightings too! From whales and dolphins out at sea to starfish and a rainbow sea slug here in the pools! Photo Credit: Paul Burley, Pauly Naylor, Eleni Vreony.

Clingfish are our strangest fish, with scaleless bodies, duck like mouths and blue spots atop their head these colour changing creatures lay golden eggs and make exciting finds! Their fins are fused into a strong sucker, so don't put them in buckets, as you may not get them out!

We had quite the find in yesterdays Extreme Rockpool Safari! This beautiful sea slug called a Discodorris rosi (yes, that's its real name!) is certainly one of the most vibrant things we have found this year! Photos from Eleanor Goodall. Who knows what we'll find next!

If you find a bright yellow sea snail on the shore you've probably found a flat periwinkle. These small snails are found on rocky shores around the country and are very variable in colour, with bright shells on sheltered shores and darker red/brown ones on exposed shores.

Did you know that many animals in the sea fluoresce under UV light? From anemones to crabs and even seaweed! We'll be looking for these rockpool ravers on our next night time rockpool safari this Sunday 1st September buff.ly/4dOND34 Photo Credit@ourworldaroundus, Jo Smith

Check out these brittle stars! Unlike regular starfish, brittle stars are fast and use the blunt spines on their arms to trap tiny food particles floating by. These two were found on our last rockpool safari and we'll look for more on Sunday 1st September! buff.ly/3ANjkf1

Bib are distinctive striped fish that shelter in the crevices and overhangs around Wembury bay. This inquisitive group were photobombed by a bold young ballan wrasse who clearly wanted to steal the show!

Conger Eels are one of our largest non shark fish with females growing to almost 3m in length. They can have a fearsome reputation but unless harassed are generally placid, This young individual was seen while snorkelling and was too busy looking for fish to care about us.
