I've seen this happen in real time in businesses I've worked for. It's pretty easy to spot if you care about your customers. (Which is why I suspect a certain new Twitter owner hasn't figured it out yet.)

Has anyone done any reporting on how adding advertisements to Netflix is affecting royalty agreements with the talent behind these movies and shows?

Because pretty much everyone who worked on every show and movie streaming on Netflix should be getting a fresh wave of checks.
