(3/3) Man Jai was incredibly loved by his keepers and the herd, in particular, his sidekick and friend, the herd's older male, Luk Chai. Man Jai would always brighten our day and make all who saw him smile. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

(1/3) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melbourne Zoo's much-loved Asian Elephant, Man Jai. Nine-year-old Man Jai developed an acute onset of the incurable disease Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus (EEHV) earlier this week.

Healesville Sanctuary's 'big bird', has taken a huge step in her ongoing healthcare.

The Black-necked Stork has been working with keepers to build up her confidence, and is now voluntarily stepping up to weigh herself as part of a proactive healthcare program.

Zookeepers are training voluntary behaviours including body checks, blood draws and acceptance of a stethoscope, all without the need for anaesthetic.
