I grew up loving these creepy John Bellairs books, with their macabre Edward Gorey covers. Pretty neat to get Bellairs’ personal copies of them!

12Z GFS (which does tend to be too aggressive sometimes, worth noting) develops #95L into a hurricane and also develops the wave behind it. Also note the massive surge of upper easterlies over the Atlantic, thanks to the developing La Niña and the MJO phase.

#Beryl is a good example of how some elements of the forecasts change and why it's important to check for forecast updates in the days ahead. Here's the latest thinking, especially regarding the U.S. western Gulf Coast: weather.com/storms/hurrica…

"My Life At Home During Banking Hours" by David Berman. (This is an unpublished poem I found on a recording of a poetry reading he gave, so line breaks are my best approximation of where his reading seemed to indicate them. We're never going to stop missing you, DCB)

Please keep H in your thoughts and light today, we are back in the hospital for a redo of the major surgery she had 3 months ago. She hasn't been able to catch a break- hoping strenuously that today is the day that changes.

Can someone call art history Twitter for me? Seeking info on this Durer engraving (etching?) from a Grangerized (ie older prints added, inlaid and bound in) 1820s set of Pilkington’s “Dictionary Of Painters.” Google image search isn’t helping me so far….

Another mystery from the Grangerized book I just got… Rembrandt etchings, but no idea when/where they were printed. I love my hobby ❤️

Absolutely stunning video of one of today's waterspouts in front of the Capo di Leuca area of Apulia. Imagine having such a thing slowly meandering in front of your window for five minutes. Video by Elena Severino. WOTY for me, at least in Italy

Getting ready what might be the best condition set of the Limited Editions Club “Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire” in existence. Fun times.
