I see a lot of unnecessary panic in the peri-intubation period surrounding a misunderstanding of SpO2, and specifically pulse-ox lag.

In Paramedic students I called it the “IV Hole”…fixating on a procedure at the expense of everything else.

Important to 1.) see it coming and “pass the baton” as Dr. Turner says

Even more important is to have the metacognitive skills to recognize it as it happens
