Next Friday, Columbia University’s Center for Palestine Studies & Columbia GSAPP are hosting a film screening and discussion of The Stranger (al-Gharib). The film follows Adnan, an unlicensed doctor, going through an existential crisis in the occupied Golan Heights. Come if you are in NYC.

I am thrilled to share that our essay with adrien zakar is now out in a special issue on Keywords in Contemporary Syrian Media, Culture and Politics. We take the #GolanHeights as a site to think about neoliberal autocracy, borderland ontologies, and ideological interpellation.
