FINAL: #Pack9 ⚾️ clinches another marquee series with a comeback 5-4 win vs rival UNC. Freshman Jacob Dudan was electric in a 1-2-3 9th, pumping 96-98 heat, freezing Honeycutt on 96 on the black to end it. Fellow frosh Luke Nixon made 2 great diving plays behind him at 2B.

Another exciting game here in Raleigh, as #Pack9 ⚾️ has come back from 4-1 down to take a 5-4 lead. Once again, Brandon Butterworth delivers in a huge spot, lining an oppo RBI single. Then #Pack9 ties it on a wild pitch, and Butterworth scores on a PB for the lead in 8th.

North Carolina's defense has been a major difference maker tonight - the Carolina Baseball have cut down multiple baserunners from the outfield, and the entire infield has flashed leather to stifle NC State rallies. Slick play on a tricky short hop grounder by 3B Gallaher to end 7th.

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times: #FearTheNorse . Really cool story to see how that Northern Kentucky program has emerged over the last 2 years as a force in the Horizon League.

Shea Sprague is done after 7 innings of 1-run ball for Carolina Baseball, scattering 7 hits and walking just 1. He was very impressive, just showed outstanding feel to pitch, mixing his running fastball, fading changeup and sharp breaking ball. Heels lead Wolfpack 4-1, B7.

After hitting 4 solo homers and a 2-run shot last night, the Carolina Baseball have 3 more solo homers tonight, as freshman Gavin Gallaher went deep to left in the 5th, squaring up a 92 mph Fritton fastball. Colby Wilkerson added an RBI double; it's 4-1 UNC, M5.

Like Vance Honeycutt, Parks Harber has homered for the 2nd day in a row, going oppo on a Dom Fritton changeup for a solo shot to make it 2-1 Carolina Baseball in the 4th. After a slow start in the power department this year, Harber now has 14 bombs. Having another strong year.

#Pack9 hitting machine Garrett Pennington delivers an RBI double down the LF line to tie this game at 1-1 after 3. That dude just plain rakes.

But Shea Sprague escapes a 2nd & 3rd, no-outs jam by stranding both thanks to back to back Ks using his sharp slider, then a groundout.

Dom Fritton looks really sharp thru 3 innings of 1-hit ball for #Pack9 ⚾️. His unicorn Vertical Approach Angle (between 2 and 4 degrees) has always made his fastball play way above its velo, and we're seeing that: he's just throwing 92-93 down the middle with good results.

Getting my first live look at Carolina Baseball LHP Shea Sprague, who has been a key rotation piece since transferring in from Elon. 3/4 lefty attacking at 89-92 in scoreless first, with a very good deceptive changeup and a quality curveball. Used all 3 pitches to record outs in 1st.

Game 2 of UNC vs NC State is underway after a short weather delay. Vance Honeycutt goes deep for the 2nd straight day, this time a high fly that just kept carrying to left and snuck over the fence. 1-0 Carolina Baseball, M1.

Well, the home run light show isn't great for taking photos, but you get the idea here - Brandon Butterworth was fired the heck up after crushing a 94 mph center-cut fastball from Matt Poston over the LF wall. #Pack9 ⚾️ walks off UNC 9-8. Highly entertaining ballgame.

It's neat to see how much of a jump Derrick Smith has made for #Pack9 ⚾️ this year. He fans 2 in a scoreless ninth, attacking at 92-94 T95 with armside run and really good feel for his tight breaking ball, which he can manipulate the shape of. He's become a really key arm.

Anthony Donofrio delivers again for Carolina Baseball - his second triple to that RCF gap tonight, then scores on a sac fly to tie this game at 8-8 in the 8th. Fun to watch Donofrio glide around the bases, dude can really motor. And he can hit. And defend. And throw. Heckuva player.

Back and forth we go here in Raleigh. Carolina Baseball have a quick answer for Cozart's 3-run homer. Alberto Osuna hits a solo shot (UNC's 5th HR tonight) and then after a 2-out error, Alex Madera hits a back-side liner single to drive in another. Pack lead cut to 8-7 at the stretch

What a luxury for Carolina Baseball to have 2 true high-end center fielders in Vance Honeycutt (the guy playing CF) and Anthony Donofrio (who plays right). Donofrio has shown off his range, athleticism and instincts with 2 big-time catches on deep, smoked liners tonight. Tough plays.
