Day 5: Informative meeting with Alphonse Rukaburandekwe Director General of rwandahousing Authority. Our University of Westminster Architecture&Cities team gained invaluable knowledge of the vision for housing in #Rwanda and its inclusive policy for resettlement & affordable #housing.

The media and political class is complicit in the far right, racist and Islamophobic violence we’re seeing across our country. This morning, I experienced the visceral denial of this reality.

For too long, minority communities have been scapegoated and blamed for our country’s problems. It is political choices by consecutive governments that have led us to this point.

Muslims and migrants have been demonised by the press and politicians for decades. This racist, far-right violence is the culmination of that.

Instead of scapegoating minorities and emboldening the far-right, politicians need to offer real solutions to the injustices that blight our society.

Turns out you can interview Muslim women without sneering and interrupting them. Good to know.
