I had a meeting with Dr. Katja Kerschbaumer, the Head of Development Cooperation at the Austrian Embassy and Chair of the Justice Sector Development Partners Group, Uganda Police Force Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

our discussion centered on improving capacity within the justice system, focusing on law enforcement, judicial processes, and the maintenance of public order. Dr. Kerschbaumer was accompanied by her deputy, Beate Farukuoye.

As the Chair of the Justice Dev’t Partners’ Group, we met with the Commissioner General of Prisons Dr. Byabashaija Johnson Byabashaija to discuss issues in the criminal justice system incldg. congestion in prisons, the need for daily criminal hearings & welfare of prisoners. Uganda Prisons Service
