Today we celebrate 142 years of U.S. Navy diving the world over! The first naval diving course of instruction began on August 1, 1882 and since then our Sailors continue to be our asymmetric advantage, and we recognize Navy diving’s capabilities and contributions to our mission.

Happy Birthday Navy Divers! Since August 1, 1882, when the first U.S. Navy divers plunged into the waters off Newport, Rhode Island, they have set the standard for bravery and innovation.
