An honour to be invited to speak World Health Organization (WHO) meeting on #CommunityProtection in Health Emergencies meeting today. I joined colleagues from across the globe to discuss the importance of putting affected communities at the center of decisions and actions aimed at protecting their health.

#Mpox is a virus that can be contained if we do the right things at the right time and put all of our minds and all of our efforts together.

During and since the last mpox PHEIC in 2022, diagnostics, vaccines and treatment were not available in the global South. It’s critical that Europe and the US hear this call from African nations and step up. There’s no need to repeat mistakes of the past.
