This is a total disgrace and shows the lack of regard for the significant work that Professor Adi has undertaken in creating a cohort of African History professionals. This decision also leaves MA and PhD students without a suitable Supervisor. This is a despicable.

As one of Hakim Adi PhD students I can’t begin to express the various levels of disrespect Professor Adi and his students have dealt with from Chichester, after everything he’s contributed. It’s a disgusting attack on African history, and we have to keep up the fight against it

This decision is so appalling & is a direct attack on Black histories in this country. It’s unbelievable that other unis, esp Liv Uni History Humanities & Social Sciences @ Uni of Liverpool have stood by in silence & let this happen. This MRes has produced 7 PhD students since 2018 & has c. 30 students currently 1/🧵

Liv Uni History Humanities & Social Sciences @ Uni of Liverpool University of Liverpool should be hosting Hakim Adi course, which is run entirely online. This is especially important in a city like Liverpool which has one of Europe’s oldest Black communities, and was responsible for the trafficking of at least 1.4 million enslaved people.

This is a disgrace. Edinburgh University just hosted Dr Adi last year as part of the launch of his long awaited new book, as did many others in the UK and around the world. So much support from academics and heritage professionals yet Chichester pulled the plug with no warning?

Has any university ever appeared more ridiculous than University of Chichester (University of Chichester), who sack the eminent scholar, Hakim Adi (Hakim Adi), who is then immediately shortlisted for the Wolfson History Prize, one of the most prestigious awards worldwide?
