Being back in (Good) Columbus to lead a Landmark Columbus Foundation Local Social Design Trip was a joy. Columbus has informed our practice so much, and it was great to share our story with those who attended!

It’s #BrutalMonday! Today, it’s the Christian Science Plaza in Boston designed by Araldo Cossutta of Pei & Associates (who did a ton of cool Brutal beauts including the hotel in Denver). It has a great colonnade leading to the Solon Beman designed original church.

It’s #BrutalMonday! Today, it’s a rebuttal of the recent NPR story saying that Brutalism lacks architectural detail. WRONG! Denver’s Federal Reserve building by Preszler, White, and Muchow shows brutal ornament in all its glory.

It’s #BrutalMonday! Today we have quite possibly the coolest church in Chicago. St. Joseph the Bethrothed by Zenon Mazurkevich is such an eye-catching mix of Brutalism, Modernism, and traditional detailing that it steals your attention on the approach to ORD.

It’s #BrutalMonday! Today it's the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, AZ. Essentially an extension of the rock in concrete, it offers a great space for worship and views of the area.
