NYPD Deputy Commissioner Rebecca Weiner now says the unidentified wife of a man convicted of terrorism wasn't actually part of last night's protests.

She says the woman was on the Columbia campus last week, and that 'we have no evidence of any criminal wrongdoing on her part.'

Breaking: Dean of the Columbia Journalism School jelani cobb tells me that calls to bring the National Guard to this campus are OFF the table. Not part of ongoing encampment negotiations.

Here is UT President Jay Hartzell’s full statement, explaining the protesters stated they were “going to violate Institutional Rules.”

I’m eager to learn exactly which rules they expected to be broken, and why the anticipation of rule-breaking necessitated today’s response.

There were about 90 officers in riot gear on this lawn about 10 minutes ago. Not 5 minutes after they left, the protestors returned.

Could be a long evening.
